If I were you, I’d wait until the dust settled before buying a new device. The M1 still stands out compared to this year’s models. I’d hold off on hearing independent reviews for the Snapdragon X devices first, before even thinking about a purchase; the Apple M4 is also coming soon for laptops and desktops. Only after testing will anyone truly know what’s happening. And I never pre-order anything on principle. You’re essentially lending a company money without any guarantee.
For additional memory options, consider the Apple refurbished store. However, personally I wouldn’t use the windows machines for several years.
