Hello, I’m searching for a PC that offers strong performance and good looks. The graphics card should be top-notch. I’m considering the ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 with 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition TUF-RTX5080-O16G-GAMING PCI-Express 5.0 DLSS 4.0. Regarding the processor, I’m torn between an i7-14700K and an i9-14900K—what are your thoughts?
For the motherboard, I don’t have much experience, but I found a link that might help: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0BQD58...GN6Q&psc=1
I’m also unsure about watercooling options. I’d prefer something that handles noise and provides good cooling. Here’s another link: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09VH1Q...52HJB&th=1
For the case, I’d like an airflow design and a visually appealing build. Check this one: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0C78M4...9EEQB&th=1
I need at least 32GB of RAM, and I’m open to any options. Power requirements aren’t clear, but I’d like to know if the power distribution is balanced. If I make a mistake or get wrong advice, what should I do?
Regarding cooling accessories, I don’t want something too bulky on the back of the case. Please let me know if the power ratio between components seems reasonable. Also, what if I purchase the wrong product or get incorrect guidance?
I was thinking I might need a fan for the back of the case, but I’d appreciate your advice. Thank you!
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I'm seeking a PC that offers strong performance and good appearance as the main priorities. I prefer staying within a budget of around 2800 USD. Could you confirm if the power distribution among components is well balanced? What if I purchase an incorrect product or advice? I assumed I might need to buy a fan for the back of the case? You're recommended to style your thread with details from this discussion; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice*. Initially, it's important to acknowledge the right place for respectful questions—this adaptation comes from the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I made it because many people are now asking for upgrade guidance here and on CPU forums, and I believe... forums. will contribute helpful ideas. In short, I'd steer clear of the 13th (oxidation problem) and 14th (firmware issue) Gen Intel systems. Stick to the 12th Gen Intel platform or the one that comes after the 14th Gen. The thread has been moved from the Components section to the Systems section.
that would be Canadian?
yes my main use would be games
that would run at 240hz in 1440p for games like cs2 or similar titles that demand a lot like cyberpunk in high, but it's more about being able to keep it running smoothly without needing constant updates
You can push the 5070 Ti to its limits, even when paired with the 4080 Super. The latest AMD and Nvidia components are compatible with PCIe 5.0, and this board meets those requirements. The processor stays cool, and a solid dual tower air cooler will do the job well. I would not get a 14700k or a 14900k unless they are dirt cheap:

I personally stick with AMD for a forward looking build. To get more graphics card power I would wait for the 5080S with 24gb of RAM. That air cooler I added is as good as most 360mm AIOs without ever being able to leak.
Build details adjusted to lower costs while keeping the structure intact.
There has been considerable concern from a year prior regarding problems linked to 13th and 14th generation Intel issues. As of September 2024, Intel has released an official update on the matter: https://community.intel.com/t5/Mobi...en...-p/1633442. Additionally, a new update was posted on May 2025: https://community.intel.com/t5/Mobi...-V...-p/1686948. From my personal experience, I have encountered no problems when using an I9-14900K. When choosing between a high-end processor and a slightly less powerful one, opt for the stronger option. Purchasing a lower-spec chip may leave you questioning your decision later. Your setup is ideal for air cooling. I currently use a Noctua NH-D15s without any overheating issues. However, I don’t run rendering or batch applications that demand all available threads. The Noctua NH-D15 coolers offer comparable cooling performance to a 280AIO cooler. They operate more quietly, are easier to install, and are more dependable. Think of an AIO as a long-term lease—they may fail eventually. The RGB RAM is taller, which can affect airflow with certain coolers. The non-RGB variant with identical specs is slightly cheaper and only about 34mm tall. https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Veng...z+...tronics,85&sr=1-3 For power supply, a solid choice has a 5-year warranty. A reasonable quality benchmark is a longer warranty, ideally around 10 years. Also, powerful graphics cards can experience voltage spikes beyond their rated values. Consider models with 950W or higher. The PSU will only draw the power it needs, operating efficiently within its capacity. It will run quieter and more consistently in the optimal performance range. You might explore the Seasonic Vertex 1000w PSU with a 12-year warranty—it’s actually more affordable than the 850W model: https://www.newegg.com/seasonic-usa...x-...6817320022. Regarding your components, they appear to be of good quality.
