I own Comcast and reside in the central US. I've experienced this issue with two different modems from Comcast over the past couple of months. My wired PC connection fluctuates wildly—switching between 250 down/12 up and 2 down/0.1 up—but both 5GHz and 2.4GHz remain consistently stable. The 5GHz stays around 150 down/10 up, while the 2.4GHz holds steady at about 30 down/8 up. I’m puzzled by the contrast; one works flawlessly while the other struggles to reach even a slight drop. My modem is likely a month old, and I’ve replaced all Ethernet cables between it and my desktop. The speeds remain poor whether I connect a laptop or use a wired setup. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

It seems like something isn't right. They just hand you whatever they have in stock. Unless you're paying for that specific XFi gateway. Remember, you can get your own modem and drop it at Comcast. My family hasn't used a Comcast modem in about five years. Just note that Comcast offers an Internet Gateway—so if you buy your own, you'll need either a gateway or a modem plus a router. Another option is to call them and complain; they'll probably send you the latest model they have. Don't take it seriously, we replaced around six TV boxes in under a year while we had their service.
