You're experiencing odd problems with the video and sound in a strange video file?
I recently set up my desktop and have been facing some unusual problems. They tend to occur most often when I’m playing Terraria and streaming music from MusicBee simultaneously. The exact situation that triggered this last time was:
While MusicBee was streaming on my local machine and Terraria was running, the screen would suddenly go dark for about 2-3 seconds. After that, the sound from Terraria came through my external speakers, and the music shifted to emanating from my monitor speakers.
Previously, this issue didn’t happen consistently—sometimes the screen would just freeze, then return. However, now it’s happening more frequently, especially when I’m listening to music on MusicBee. It can also happen without audio problems, with the screen going black and then coming back.
My system is fairly recent and powerful:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Gaming X
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x8GB, 3200MHz)
I’ve tried several troubleshooting steps so far:
- Ran Prime 95 for 5 hours straight to check CPU stability—no errors.
- Performed a full memory test overnight without issues.
- Added six fans (excluding the CPU heatsink), monitoring temps; never exceeded ~81°C.
- Reinstalled Windows 10, followed by driver updates. Installed RTX 2070 Super drivers via GeForce Experience, keeping other drivers updated through Windows Update.
- Verified Steam game files—one problem was found but resolved automatically by Steam.
- Ran Steam as administrator and still faced the same issues.
I’m feeling quite uncertain and worried about potential hardware faults, especially with my motherboard and CPU. I’m hoping for some advice before considering a return to manufacturer support.
Thanks!
