Your CPU performance has dropped significantly, averaging around 108°C during heavy use and only about 68°C when idle. You shared a basic setup with three front intakes, two top intakes, and one back exit. It ran at roughly 68°C but now hits 80°C. I’m looking for advice on whether to underclock, upgrade components, or install a better cooler. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

Start by taking out the cooler, apply new thermal paste, and make sure the cooler is securely fastened. If it remains too hot, the issue may be improper installation or dried paste. To lower heat on the software side, limit CPU power using a power limit setting. Undervolting can help minimize performance loss from this.

No? No, it doesn't? "Idle" refers to a state of inactivity or not performing any work.

Check the 108C chart for the peak; it might not be listed there. The 60°C threshold seems quite high, so you may need to verify the data source.

The CPU came out roughly three years back, not four. Looking at the image suggests it's an AIO model. Verify the paste layer. Ensure the pump functions properly. Fans should be visible as well.

It seems there might be an issue with the cooler mount or the AIO pump not functioning. Verify that the AIO pump is active. If it works, ensure the cooler is detached, confirm the plastic cover on the cold plate is absent, then reapply adhesive and reattach.

Typically, most AIOs include paste ready to go, eliminating the need for a plastic film. The protective layer resembles the casing of a CPU. Some models might still use film, though.

87W is actively contributing. It's crucial to distinguish between "I'm not doing anything" and "the PC isn't functioning." Monitor CPU activity as the primary sign.
