You're experiencing an issue with your Mac's storage.
I recently switched to Mac OS Ventura and initially everything worked smoothly until I noticed my system storage was nearly full. I checked what was consuming space and discovered that system data had taken up 97 gigabytes. After restarting my Mac, the issue seemed resolved, but it returned after about 20 minutes. I searched online for solutions, but none helped. Anyone know what might be causing this?
Your hard drive is quite compact, with updates usually downloading quietly in the background until you choose to install them. Generally, they stay within a few GB at most. Try TreeSize from the Appstore to check the exact space usage.
App Store apps are limited in their access, making it hard to get accurate storage data. Opt for DiskInventoryX instead—it provides detailed insights into storage usage and identifies areas of concern.
The tool you mentioned works, it’s completely free. The image capture doesn’t provide useful information.
I didn’t have a chance to test the software. The issue seems to have disappeared. It probably was related to Mac OS, as the problem resolved after upgrading to Ventura 13.0.1.
