I'm sorry about the unclear video of my build. Here are the details you shared:
- Motherboard: ASUS B650e-f
- CPU: AMD 7800X3D
- PSU: RM1000x shift fans
- Case: Noctua NH-D15
- RAM: 2x16GB G.SKILL Flarex5 DDR5 (model F5-6000J3238G16GX2-FX5)
- Storage: NVMe 1GB SATA SSD Western Digital Blue SN570
- GPU: RTX 4090 by Gigabyte WindForce
- Monitor: LG OLED TV A1 (HDMI connections via two separate cables)
- Update: BIOS updated via USB
I followed the Linus guide closely, using some additional videos tailored to my specs. However, when attempting to boot the motherboard with a screwdriver (step 7, without power), nothing happens. The MOBO logo lights are on, but inserting a screwdriver between the pins doesn’t spin them. No display appears on the monitor, and no error LED signals an issue.
I see the fans are connected, all CPU pins reach the PSU, and I used the provided cable to connect the GPU to the GPU port for the TV. I’m still trying to figure out what’s missing. Could it be a loose connection somewhere? Or maybe something with the cooling setup?
I revised the bios after several attempts to make it function. Yes, I tried Bios Flashback. The video I found showed everything working properly, but I’m still having trouble starting my build.
There’s a small chance that your screwdriver is not able to short the pins, try a non coated screw driver if possible.
Hey there! To fix the display issue, just disconnect the HDMI cable from the motherboard. Consider using the display out option from the GPU settings. If you're unsure, try swapping in another accessory like a fork or knife—though I’m not sure that helps with visibility. Your CPU fans seem to be plugged in, but it might be tough to see clearly.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I see you've checked with a fork and knife, which didn't help. You mentioned attaching photos of the CPU and MOBO after your first failed boot attempt. It sounds like you might have damaged the cooler during the process. You're planning to try again and consider consulting a technician if needed.
