64 bit Windows supports both 64 bit and 32 bit programs. It maintains Program Files (x86) for 32 bit apps to avoid issues from poorly made installers. There are also System32 and SysWOW64 directories inside Windows. You don’t need to place files in the standard folder—just pick a custom path like C:\Programs or C:\Games. You likely received the 64 bit version on your laptop and a different one on your PC.
