Running out of RAM on your Mac can cause performance issues, especially with resource-heavy software like Final Cut Pro X. If you switch to the 8 GB model, expect slower editing speeds and potential crashes when using more than 8 GB. The 16 GB model is still available but will take longer to ship.

Swapping will be necessary, as RAM and VRAM depletion occurs more frequently than many assume.

Hey, nothing really will happen if you run out of RAM except it will be slower and maybe not as responsive. I would NOT recommend getting the 8GB model. 8GB RAM is just not enough for video editing these days. Especially if you work with higher resolution footage. 8GB Ram will work. But its not recommended + its stupid because then you can only cache a small portion óf the videofile that you are editing. If you get the new 8GB model and use it until january it will be a money waste. even if you sell it again. I would recommend you either wait until the 16GB model is avaible for you OR upgrade your current rig. (if that is possible). Either way have fun wasting money on apple products.

File swap will cause significant delays. Avoid the 8GB version—it won’t suffice, be calm, and save money. You already have a computer; why rush? If performance drops compared to the old setup, why upgrade now?
