Initially it worked perfectly after startup, but now it's extremely sluggish even with the HDDs connected. I'm unsure what's causing this issue.

I experienced a comparable problem, but the issue is I can't recall the solution. I remember being at the stage where I reinstalled everything. Isn't it true you should reinstall the OS while the HDDs are disconnected? It seems there might be a connection issue causing the slowness. Also, I usually boot directly from my SSD; if that doesn't work, I switch to the bootable options and pick the desired drive. That's how I typically dualboot in most situations.

[solved] Hello , this is what i did, i just backed up all my data from the 2 HDDs & deleted both disk volumes and created new disk volumes , for both hard drives (somehow reformatting it worked) . That seemed to fix the problem i was having, my ssd boots super fast now. Hope this helps if someone is having the same issues I was having. =]
