I just finished assembling my first custom loop and now I’m seeing a CPU error light on my motherboard, the Asrock x670e steel legend. I double-checked everything before putting it together and securing it in my case. I made sure all power connectors were firmly connected. My fan is running smoothly, the pump is working, and fans are spinning. I tried a clear CMOS but can’t confirm if it’s making any changes—it’s not a button, just pins that need to be shorted. I’m running out of ideas and feeling anxious about this situation. I broke one of the mounting screws on the CPU block and am unsure if I’ll be able to remove it later. Please help or send some comfort.

Please share a picture of the broken mounting screws. If nothing has changed you probably have to reseat the CPU, the block you're mounting might cause some pressure issues.

If you missed one of the mounting screws while installing the block, it’s very likely you also tightened the CPU block too much. I’m almost certain the CPU isn’t seated correctly. Please send photos so we can confirm. Your pressure probably wasn’t right—either from the broken screw or over-tightening. Either way, you should reposition the CPU block and verify it’s properly placed.

The issue involves EK’s velocity 2, and I’m hoping the training process is slow. There have been reports indicating it can take over 400 seconds to resolve things. I’ll let you know once I have updates, possibly with photos soon.

If the debug LED test halts on the CPU and remains there, it likely just reports a CPU issue, generating errors that halt the boot sequence. After the block was mounted, this behavior points to the most probable cause.

I loosened a few more screws and it started booting into BIOS quickly.

Notice, increasing force. It got too firm—double-check with extra tension. Run tests under load and keep an eye on readings.
