You can use a WiFi scanner to check nearby access points and ensure your router operates on a different wireless frequency. On 2.4 GHz there are only 11 channels, but just 3 of them don’t clash with others. At 5 GHz some bands overlap with radar systems, so not all available. Many routers block access to certain frequencies due to regulations. Also note that other devices use the same spectrum. A WiFi analyzer won’t display this information. Generally, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels are free to use without a license, as long as you comply with government rules—anyone can then share the band.

Consider the impact of the WiFi cards on your PC, the antennas, and how obstacles like cases might weaken the signal. The segment between the PC and router influences how the signal bounces and can lead to unexpected changes.
