I press ctrl shift esc but it doesn't open anything. I received a new keyboard but the ctrl works, esc functions and esc operates.

Can you check if right-clicking the taskbar unlocks it? Are the keyboard settings in Windows aligned with your actual keyboard configuration?

Also, using CTRL + ALT + DELETE opens a menu with Task Manager as an option. If these approaches don<|pad|>, it might mean malware is blocking access. This is uncommon nowadays but possible. Also, your taskmgr.exe file could be damaged or missing. It’s wise to scan for malware first. Good luck!

If it's malicious, try another machine to download Trend Micro Housecall. It will generate a USB drive you can install and use to scan your PC. This method has been around for several years and was once the best way to detect and eliminate malware.

The usual method isn't functioning properly. It only fails when another program assigned that shortcut, so review the software you added near the time it stopped working.

If you suspect it could be malware, visit the TrendMicro website and check their instructions. It seems HouseCall might now appear as either "Portable Security" or "Trend Micro Anti-Threat Tool Kit (ATTK)", both listed on their Downloads page. Someone might have an alternative version available. You should perform the check from a different device to prevent infection.
