I'm having trouble locating a recording tool that fits my PC. I need smooth gameplay with no lag or slowdowns. I've checked Bandicam, FRAPS, OBS, CamStudio, Camtasia Studio and others. None seem to work well. I mainly play older titles and would appreciate a feature that captures FPS directly instead of just screenshots. My system specs: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, 4 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 5450, CPU 2.30 GHz on Dell Inspirion 531. If anyone has a recommendation, please share it.
Sorry, no current solution fits your needs. You'll have to upgrade your system for better performance. Still, a capture card can work as an alternative.
Use MSI Afterburner with OBS, adjust settings freely. Reduce resolution and bitrate. Enable OpenCL codecs or skip compression.
OBS appears to attract more notice, which might suit me temporarily until I upgrade my new PC. I’m not confident my drivers are current, so I haven’t checked them. It seems to be configured for automatic Action recorder and works flawlessly on the PC, even at 720p with no lag. I’m curious about how it performs with this machine, especially since it had some issues with the record button.
I previously used Bandicam, it worked fine for a while, until I discovered Action! Positive news is, I managed to resolve the glitchy issue with Action! Everything is now fine.
