So actually this laptop is my cousin's and he forgot the password (Lenovo running win8). He asked me to factory reset it for him but I'm having trouble too. I can't get into safe mode, I tried all the F keys and the only thing I could get into was the BIOS and that didn't help because I couldn't reset it from there too. Is there anyway to get pass the lock screen or in general, factory reset the laptop without getting pass the lock screen ? Pls help !!!

You can reinstall Windows 8 by switching the boot drive to your DVD, but ensure the DVD is properly formatted and readable.

Turn it on and wait for the spinning logo to appear. Press the power button until the system shuts down. Do this a few times, and after the third attempt it should launch Windows Recovery automatically. The F8 option is no longer available in Windows 8.
