I recently built a new PC and was setting up Windows 10 when the power failed. Now my BIOS doesn’t recognize the installation USB or the SSD at all. It happened during a mid-partition moment.

You may need to use another PC to format the drive, since most BIOS include a disk manager option for this task. Alternatively, it might not appear at all. If that’s the case, you’ll have to format it on a different machine. A live Linux USB could also help resolve formatting issues. Don’t worry about the missing installer USB drive—just start fresh if you’re certain it’s absent. Good luck!

The USB was damaged by the surge, but the other drive only needed a reformat and now it works. I’ll also receive an UPS.
