Hi, I recently purchased a new PC in August but haven’t had the chance to fully check it out because of schoolwork and other commitments. Here are my details: CPU: i3-8100 GPU: GTX 1050ti 4GB Mobo: B360 HD3 Graphics: Gigabyte PSU: Bitfenix Formula 650w 80 PLUS Gold RAM: Crucial 4x2 GB 2400MHz OS: Windows 10 Pro Monitor: Philips 170B 720p @75Hz The issue is that it doesn’t perform as expected, especially during gaming. It feels sluggish even when using Chrome on Google or simply dragging windows. I remember playing FPS games on other computers and watching YouTube tutorials—there’s no obvious frame drop. Except possibly with older games, I’m not sure if they behave differently. The CPU light stays solid and doesn’t fade away, but sometimes it disappears completely, even after the PC starts up and I launch a game. Mouse movement becomes choppy or jumps, and while keyboard navigation is fine, turning the mouse isn’t smooth. Games like Skyrim, CSGO, and Stronghold Crusader 1 run at high FPS but still feel unstable. Despite achieving over 250 FPS on CSGO and 140+ on Ultra for Skyrim, I’m not sure if further improvements are possible. I’ve tried reinstalling Windows multiple times, adjusted Nvidia settings, uninstalled and reinstalled GPU drivers, set power plans to High performance, and checked for viruses. The DVI cable is connected properly. Things to consider: my laptop’s Logitech mouse is from 2002, my monitor is also old, and I’ve used another old Acer monitor with the same results. My previous PC ran Skyrim smoothly at low settings, but now it feels unstable when using the mouse. I experience headaches while gaming. To sum up, despite high FPS numbers, performance drops and input issues persist. I’ve updated the BIOS to the latest version, but the red light remains and the gameplay still isn’t ideal.
If the situation remains unchanged and progress is slow, I believe the problem lies with the graphics card. It's not a software-related issue since you've already tried various solutions without success. Consider using a different temporary card to test its performance... good luck!
We could go with built-in graphics instead of searching for a new graphics card.
Do you have an SSD? If RAM runs low and you rely on page files during games, the graphics card may lag.
I don’t own an SSD, yet I always had plenty of RAM. I checked everything the moment I received it.
I didn't state a fact... It's just suggesting it might be the physical video card. My guess rather than a confirmed detail. When did your system work well with the card you own?
