Your new PC is running, but it doesn’t recognize your storage devices.
Hey! Two days ago I assembled my new PC using mostly new components and some from my previous build. Now I have: - Asus Strix B650e-E WiFi motherboard
- Ryzen 5 7600X CPU
- Rx7800XT GPU
- 32 GB 3DVCCORA Vengeance RAM
- Gigabyte P750G MPS power supply
- 4TB HDD
- 512 GB NVMe SSD
- 512 GB SATA SSD
I reused my old PSU and storage drives. From the beginning, I’ve noticed that when I boot into BIOS, not all my drives appear. It always shows only the NVMe drive, while others are missing. It’s quite confusing. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to fix it—updated BIOS, changed SATA cables, even noted changes—but nothing works. It feels like a random outcome. What could be causing this inconsistency?
Review the BIOS settings to see if you're employing UEFI or legacy boot. If you're set to UEFI but your drives are configured for legacy boot, they may go unrecognized. This has occasionally worked for me.
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, once I switched to legacy boot, I lost access to the BIOS and had to restart the system.
