Your new PC is behaving oddly.
Hey everyone. I recently purchased new PC components during Black Friday, and everything seemed normal at first. But lately, strange issues have started appearing. I want to reassure you this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced problems with my own build. The most recent issue began with my new M.2 WD SN850X SSD used for game partitions disappearing. After reseating it, I thought the problem was resolved—but I didn’t notice any issues during installation.
If I haven’t been using the PC for a while, I left it on sleep/hibernation mode. When I powered it back on, it would freeze or fail to start altogether. Today, when I turned it on, I saw only a blue screen, though the fans were running and the AIO LEDs lit up. I restarted, tried again, and finally got into BIOS. After exiting, everything worked fine.
Occasionally, when I booted up, the PC would launch in Windows but display on my second monitor instead of the first. I had to manually switch monitors to get it working properly.
Here’s what I have: CPU – Ryzen 9 9950X3D, GPU – RTX 4070 32GB, RAM – Corsair Vengeance 6000MT/s, a 2TB HDD, a 1TB SATA SSD, and an AIO 280mm liquid cooler from Artic. I’m using X870E gaming Wi-Fi plus MSI. I also have a BIOS update pending, but I haven’t done it yet—just not sure if it’s necessary.
Anyone have any advice or insights? I’m feeling quite confused.
Try turning off the sleep feature temporarily. Wait a few days and see if the blue screen appears again. Often restarting the PC from the power button can trigger it. Regarding the sleep issue, it seems to be a known problem that might be resolved by updating the BIOS—download the update via USB, install it, and everything should work fine. Also, check that your M.2 slot is correctly connected before proceeding. Before turning off the system, discharge any remaining power from the drive. For final advice, this is my suggestion only.
Ok , more problems today . When i powered on the PC it just wouldnt POST . all was black but the RGB on the cooler was working and the case fans . Finally i managed to get into the BIOS , checked everything to be ok and restarted . Then same happened . I got a yellow + red MOBO light. thats CPU and RAM problem . I tried the clear CMOS button , but it didnt work. I then tried reseating the Rams , it didnt work . Then i checked all the PSU connections , the 24V and 2 8pin CPU cables , still nothing . So then i said F it , i just took all the PC apart . Took out the ram , the cooler , i check to see if theres any damage on the cpu socket ( everything is clean ) , i took out all the PSU cables. The i re-did all the pc from scratch , repasted the CPU , put back the RAM , installed the PSU cable and GPU . Now everything is working and i also updated the bios . Im curios to see if everything will work fine now . I did notice something , the CPU cooler , was very very tighly attached . And i remembered i read a post once on redit and someone said that its not good to tighten to an extrem de cooler . So this time i tighted the cooler a little bit more loosly . Here's hoping everything will be fine
The BIOS update includes enhancements for memory compatibility. For more details, see the release notes. If you're experiencing problems, consider updating the BIOS here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X870E-GA...FI/support
I would refresh the BIOS, install each SSD firmware using the manufacturer's official tool, and adjust power settings. I'd also review sleep and hibernation options, potentially disabling or turning them off. For instance, in a Windows 10 interface, this might look like changing system preferences.
