I began by sharing this on Reddit first, but didn’t get any replies. I’m counting on the community to assist me. This text was taken from r/buildapc. I own a PC with an X570 Crosshair VIII Hero and a 3950X, planning to upgrade to a 5800X3D. I’m considering using the 3950X on another machine that includes a 2600X. The board I have is the GIGABYTE B450 with AORUS PRO Wi-Fi, and it seems the VRM power might be insufficient for the 3950X. I wouldn’t risk overclocking, just want extra cores for productivity tasks like photo and video editing. Am I being unreal, or can this board handle the 3950X without issues?

Only when reaching the A series chipset boards does this turn into an issue. Ryzen didn't turn into a voracious beast until the 7950x, which draws 250W. The 3950x remains nearer to a 150W model. If you're concerned, try Eco Mode and you'll experience only slight performance drops.
