Your monitor's backlight shines erratically if it doesn't get any video input.
When my monitor fails to get any video signal, its backlight begins to flicker at regular intervals—roughly every four seconds. It appears as though it attempts to activate in search of a signal but then instantly shuts off after just one frame. Despite this issue, the monitor operates perfectly when receiving video input, suggesting the problem isn’t a simple hardware failure. It seems more likely a firmware-related glitch. I’m uncertain about the exact cause or trigger, though I suspect it might be connected to recent power disruptions (three out of the last two weeks). While aging displays can sometimes fail, this pattern doesn’t align with typical degradation. I understand it’s bothersome because I have to disconnect and reconnect it whenever I need to save my PC. I’d appreciate any insights from more experienced users or details about my setup to help diagnose this. Thanks!
Just noticed my screen went down a few days back. There was a faint spark in the back, then it was all off. Guess it's time to get a replacement.
