Your license remains valid with the new PC.
Hello everyone. I just installed Windows 10 today and am thinking about getting a license. I have some worries too. If I upgrade all my parts except the boot drive, will that key stop working? Windows checks the serial numbers of components to recognize them. Thanks for your help! And sorry for my unclear English.
I don't think so. 3: Do you have continuous access to that key?
Ensure the motherboard remains unchanged for your product key to function. Changing the board may cause Windows to treat it as a new device. If you intend to swap the motherboard later, there are methods to move your license to another machine. This approach has helped me with older Windows versions, though results on Windows 10 could vary. Hey everyone! It seems OEM keys are only attached to the motherboard, whereas retail keys can be moved around more easily. Retail keys cost a bit more, but I’m planning to get one soon.
