I refreshed the bios on my laptop, and the update completed without issues after the EC ROM problem arose. Now it’s stuck with no progress visible, and it’s been almost two hours. I’m unsure what to do next. Turning it off might cause a full system crash—should I consider that?

Consider a power reset is your only chance here. I’d probably quit after 30 minutes with no improvement—you clearly have more patience than me! Hopefully, the system boots up fine after the restart (the BIOS update confirms it’s working).
