Zen2 and zen3 use Infinity Fabric for CPU-to-RAM communication, which performs best when RAM speeds are between 3200 and 3600 while CPU speeds sit around 1600–1800. Running RAM at 2133 might push Infinity Fabric to 1066, creating a bottleneck with powerful CPUs such as the 5900X. Turn on XMP settings for a performance increase. A RAM speed of 1500 is significantly higher than 1066 and can strain the system. Adding more case fans can help, particularly if you can position them to directly reach the VRM.
I recently installed a 5900X and achieved solid performance without any overclocking. It seems RAM overclocking was disabled by default, running at around 2666 MHz, matching your setup. To be clear, using a B450 board isn't cost-effective; I opted for the Asus Tuf B550 PLUS, which works well, but the X570 chipset appears superior for Zen3. Consider updating the BIOS and turning on RAM overclocking (EDOC). While 3000 MHz RAM is better than 1066 MHz, 3200-4000 MHz shines with Zen3. The performance gap between 550 and 570 motherboards is minimal unless you require additional cooling for RAM or other unique needs. The main distinction lies in the increased number of USB 3.0 (or improved) headers. Both likely support PCIe 4.0. Upgrading RAM from 3000 MHz to 3600 MHz typically results in about a 3 fps improvement, which is more apparent in demanding applications than in gaming. There are many benchmarks available on YouTube, but few people mention this detail.
