Your latest computer is not functioning properly without any clear cause.
I recently assembled my first functional gaming PC, and it’s been a complete disaster. My mental well-being has taken a huge hit since the build. With university classes starting soon, I’m feeling overwhelmed and might have to give up if I can’t fix this mess. I’ve checked everything—SSD performance in Crystal Disk Mark, RAM with Memtest, CPU with Cinebench—and it looks okay on paper. But the reality is far worse. The CPU usage spikes without any clear cause, slowing down the whole system. Sometimes I can’t even close a window by pressing X. The start menu flickers when it opens. Despite having over 100 FPS in Cyberpunk at 1080p Ultra, loading screens are unstable, edges look distorted, and some textures freeze. Connectivity is poor—Bluetooth and Wi-Fi work but connect too slowly or drop frequently. The CPU stays under 80°C, the GPU doesn’t overheat (max 70°C), and the PSU is a new bequiet model. Still, the build feels like a pile of junk. I’m desperate and need help figuring this out.
Have you updated the latest AMD BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers? Also, consider resetting the CMOS and reinstalling Windows since some issues persist.
I attempted to reset the CMOS but it didn’t resolve the issue. I’m currently reinstalling Windows, and during the download my screen briefly went dark followed by a white bar on the bottom. This also happened during the first installation when I used the front panel USB. Is this typical?
I've also updated the BIOS, but I didn't enable EXPO this time. The same graphical problems persist with Cyberpunk. This appears to be Cyberpunk 2077_2024.09.30-21.47_clip_1_clip_1.mp4, Cyberpunk 2077_2024.09.30-21.46_clip_2_mp4, and Cyberpunk 2077_2024.09.30-21.30_clip_2.mp4.
It’s hard to pinpoint the issue since the refresh rate isn’t optimal. There seems to be motion blur because the display speed doesn’t match the monitor’s refresh rate. Could you tell me what kind of monitor you’re using? The jagged edges are also unclear—what resolution are you working with? Any upscaling techniques are in place? And does this problem occur consistently across all games?
In the first video you noticed some unusual white pixels. The second clip displays black flickering while loading. Since motion blur is active in the game, this isn't a major problem. The game runs at native 1080p resolution. I've only checked Cyberpunk and League of Legends; LoL functions properly. EDIT: I also tried The Witcher 3 and found it even worse than Cyberpunk. During a settings change I saw a strange graphical issue—about three-quarters of the screen turned blue, then it vanished after I reset the settings (I didn't save the screenshot). Is your GPU malfunctioning? The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt_2024.09.30-23.01_clip_1_clip_1.mp4
It looks like there might be an issue with the card or a corrupted graphics driver. Try using ddu to completely remove the driver and then reinstall it.
