I received a Wii and a portable hard drive that came from an old laptop. When connected to my PC it works fine, but it doesn’t show up in Disk Management. It also connects to the Wii console without issues. When plugged into a charger, it functions (though it makes some noises in the computer but not audible outside). I’m unsure if the power supply is delivering enough power. Your specs include an Intel H55 board, i5 650, 8GB DDR3 RAM, and an AMD Radeon R7 200 series GPU.

Identify the specific portable drive model or its exact specifications. Determine whether it's a standard portable drive or a custom hard drive enclosure, including its manufacturer and version. Consider compatibility factors such as computer system requirements and file system types. Gather more precise information before offering helpful advice.

Check if you're connecting the same adapter to both your Wii and your computer. Try using a powered USB port to see if it works.

The storage system uses NTFS format and the portable drive is Everest HCD-127 (the controller model, not the actual disk). The drive type is Western Digital WD800BEVS (5VDC 0.55A, approximately 15 years old).

I own a powered USB hub with an adapter port, but it isn't functioning properly. Yes, I'm using the same cable, and it works on my Wii—specifically, the second USB output is being used instead of the first one that didn't work.

They seem designed to boost power from the USB ports. Are both connected to the computer?

I also tested them together, but it didn’t function. Updated: I retried using my powered USB hub with two USB ports connected and it worked. Thanks.
