It was recently upgraded and comes with Amazon's assurance of proper functionality. I'm not entirely confident about the details, but that's what I heard.

I saved the programs and started them. They’re free—hard disk sentinel is on trial—and getting Kapton tape isn’t feasible right now because everything’s shutting down for the holidays, so it might hit me by January 3. I’m left with choosing between the adapter you showed, cutting the 3.3V wire from the end of the SATA connector on my other drives, or just putting the HDD aside or returning it.

It doesn't need special Kapton tape. Ordinary tape will suffice. You could even use nail polish over the pin for a secure hold.

It has been running for 1303 days... and it seems to have less than two years remaining. I wouldn't consider putting it in my system at all.

For this drive, 30k hours marks midlife. The time left seems minimal—just a fraction of what’s left. According to HD sentinel, your SSD has about 59 days left, offering roughly 35TB or writes and 59% capacity remaining.

Yes, the drive appears on the system but isn't starting properly.

It doesn't rotate, generate power, or appear in system info unless you connect the adapter.

I’d just use the adapter and move on. For extra caution, verify the adapter is intact, the wires match your power supply’s gauge, and the pins connect properly—especially on the Molex side. I’ve worked with Molex to SATA adapters before, and my current test bench relies on one due to power constraints. Those having problems usually use poor or faulty adapters, or they connect incorrectly. Molex isn’t ideal as a connector, and I’ve shared my own struggles when trying to fit it in, but as long as it’s properly seated and quality is good, issues should be avoided.

It's much more reliable and delivers better power compared to SATA.
