I believe a 212-spectrum might not be ideal for your i7 10700k. I own that processor and find it difficult to run a 240mm AIO at full speed under heavy use.
I just tested all core 5GHz on an air cooler (Thermalright Frost 140). It reached 95°C. I’m saying it’s a really hot machine—maybe think about upgrading to a 280–360 AIO if you plan to push it further.
Today I experienced the same problem. I just got my i7-10700K and chose to use the AIO cooler Corsair H80i v2 from my previous setup. The CPU starts heating up quickly, reaching 95-98°C in Cinebench R20 even at default speeds. Stopping the test brings temperatures back to normal within 5-7 seconds. At idle it's fine (29-30°C), but any light software install pushes it to 45-50°C in just a few seconds. It's curious that HWiNFO64 reports liquid temps at 29-30°C and the CPU isn't warming up when under load. I wasn't expecting the AIO Corsair H80i v2 to be suitable for this CPU. Before ordering a replacement, I might try reapplying thermopaste and reinstalling the waterblock. Perhaps there was an issue during the installation. I'll let you know tomorrow if it works. The 120 mm AIO isn't sufficient for this CPU, particularly during synthetic tests.
A solid 360 mm works well. I own a Corsair H100i Pro xt (240mm) and maintain good temperatures under 60°C during games. However, synthetic tests at around 90°C struggle at 5.1GHz. A 360 mm should handle it, though I chose the 360 for future flexibility instead of swapping my case.
Hello Alexello, the 10700k's PL2 is reported to reach up to 230W of TDP. This is the maximum boost level you should aim for, and it’s the lowest TDP you’d want.
