Hi everyone, I own an Acer Predator 17 G9-791 gaming laptop (specs: i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz / GeForce GTX 970m 3GB VRAM / 16GB DDR4 2133MHz). The HDMI cable is linked to the CPU, and the display port is connected to the GPU. Recently I attempted to play GTA V on an external monitor using Display Port only, achieving around 37 fps at low settings in FHD. Using the same external monitor via HDMI gave me about 68 fps, nearly double. The difference was noted in Task Manager: with HDMI the internal GPU (Intel HD Graphics 530) was active, but not with Display Port. A GPU benchmark showed similar outcomes—anti-aliasing off, FHD 2432/41fps, HD 3757/63fps, HDMI 2509/42fps, 4064/68fps. Intuitively, Display Port should deliver higher FPS since it sends frames directly to the monitor. Anyone know what’s going on and how to fix it?
