I own a custom-built computer with a Gigabyte Designare Z390 board. It worked fine for years, but now it keeps losing its internet connection through both the ethernet cable and Wi-Fi. I tried removing all drivers and letting Windows 11 reinstall them, which fixed things for a short time before falling apart again. This problem happened even when I switched to Windows 10 Pro first. I have another computer on the same network switch that works perfectly fine with no problems at all. I changed cables and checked everything obvious, but nothing helped stop the internet cut from my Z390 PC. I need some help solving this issue.

I would first try open a cmd window and leave a constant ping run to the router IP. This would show if it is some very basic network issue or it is something more advanced. I suspect because it affects both wifi and ethernet it is not something simple but it might be.

Thanks so much for your reply. It just feels weird. The Gigabyte Designare Z390 has dual antennas for Wi-Fi and two Ethernet ports. This motherboard gets a lot of great reviews as being top-notch quality. But, there are some online posts about internet problems with this model. Their website doesn't offer drivers for Win 11 for the wireless or ethernet networks, but this started back when I still had Windows 10. Thinking back, it seems like I never ran into a problem until I let CCleaner update all my drivers and remember that they were network adapters. When I took out the devices in Device Manager and chose to remove their drivers, everything worked fine for about an hour after that reboot. But then I lost internet connection again. I wish I had the skill to manually remove every single related driver and then reboot. I'm wondering if conflicting network drivers that are still on my system is causing this problem.

This probably isn't about the driver itself I think. You would lose the ability to ping the router and since ethernet drivers are totally different than wifi, one problem won't affect the other. It has to be something in software. If you want to try a few things blindly. Hard code the DNS settings for IPv4 to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 while you are in there turn off IPv6 support since it seems like it offers little benefit and can cause problems for some people. You could also try booting a USB linux image. This would let you basically replace all the software on the machine without changing anything. The problem is if it doesn't work on Linux then you are looking at some crazy hardware issue that affects many parts. Even if it works, finding out exactly what is wrong isn't very helpful except to know your hardware is likely fine.

Thanks for the info! I've always done my own computer upgrades, but I didn't know about networks until now. With that in mind, yesterday someone suggested a network reset as a fix. After doing it, I had no more disconnects while using the PC all day. I think the problem is fixed. Really hoping so! Thanks again!
