Yesterday morning I played Cod MW without any issues, but after stopping, I realized my GPU had its own control software. Since I already had Msi Afterburner installed, I removed it and installed Inno3d. Once set up, my GPU temperatures were higher than normal. I tried adjusting them in Inno3d but didn’t succeed. Then I reinstalled Msi Afterburner. After some time, while playing GTA V, an error occurred after about 30 minutes. I restarted the game, but it kept crashing. I also tried COD again, but it kept failing as well. I checked the error messages and noticed they mentioned possible overlay issues. I disabled Discord overlays and NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlays, but the problems persisted. Please help!
When the games crash, they fully disrupt the system by forcing an on/off state or it’s just a CTD (crash to desktop) situation. Have you checked the Windows logs for any readable messages? What are your GPU temperatures and system specifications? CPU temperatures as well? Consider using DDU to remove all drivers and reinstall. Run everything with default settings, ensuring no additional software is installed on either the CPU or GPU. Are the fans increasing speed when load or temperature rises? Would a clean Windows installation help?
When the games stop, they fully disrupt the system forcing an on/off or it’s just a CTD (crash to desktop). Sometimes the crash displays an error like Dev error 6068 on COD, but other times it simply shuts down and jumps to the desktop. Have you checked the Windows logs for any readable messages? I haven’t, how can I help? What are your GPU temperatures? They hover around 31°C when idle, rising to 50–65°C in-game. Your system specs are: Intel i3 9100f, GTX 1650 Super, 1650 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD, 2x 500 GB HDD (Gigabyte H310M M.2). CPU temps are about 35°C idle, around 55°C during gameplay. Consider using DDU to uninstall and reinstall drivers, keeping everything at default settings. I’ll try it without any modifications.
Occasionally it ends the session, and other times it displays the Dev error 6068 on COD MW.
Looking at the Event Viewer, does it show the error code 0xc000005? If so, matches your current problem.
Search for 'computer management' in your search bar and review the attached image. Ignore most warnings—they’re usually harmless or unimportant. Click the 'Application' and 'System' options on the left, then select 'clear'. Begin the game and observe how long it takes to start; note the time when it stalls. Return to the logs and check around that period for any clues. I suggest performing a Windows reinstall or a reset. Navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset This PC. This can help identify issues with the operating system. If the game still fails after a fresh, fully updated Windows 10 install, ensure drivers are current and only the game is installed—this often points to a hardware problem. With an SSD installation and decent internet, a full reset should take no more than 30 minutes. I do this regularly to maintain a clean system.
