Regular member since 2017, came online for the first time to assist a friend. A friend of mine is experiencing problems with their NZXT H710 pre-built gaming PC during gameplay. After about fifteen minutes, the system freezes. From what they've told, the problem seems GPU-related—the machine still reacts to keyboard input even when frozen. I've attempted various solutions: stress-testing the GPU with FurMark, checking temperatures and voltages via HWinfo, updating drivers, applying underclocking, and more. None of these fixed the issue. Here are their system details: CPU—Intel Core i9-9900K; Motherboard—MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC Cooler; Case—NZXT H710; RAM—G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 2x8 GB DDR4-3200; GPU—MSI Ventus XS OC RTX 2080; SSD—Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2 TB; Power Supply—Seasonic Focus GX 750W Gold; OS—Windows 10 Home (version uncertain); Nvidia drivers—latest available as of writing (572.xx). Games affected include World of Warcraft and Avowed. They mentioned the issue stopped after cleaning the PC and checking connections, which resolved the freezing. I'm reaching out here for any tech advice to help fix it. Updated March 26, 2025 by Ommex.

Indicates a possible problem that goes beyond GPU strain, maybe involving VRAM, power supply, or overall system performance when both CPU and GPU are active

They executed FurMark, achieved freezing, but this instance the entire system halted and stopped reacting, ignoring keyboard inputs.

It looks like simply opening the case and cleaning it resolved the issue (temperatures were normal before). They think the problem is electrical and plan to replace the power supply with a Corsair RM1000x they already have.
