Hello, I returned to CS:GO after a six-month break and noticed my FPS remained stuck around 60+ most of the time, only spiking to 68-69 when in the main menu. To fix this, I lowered the resolution to 1900x1200 and adjusted graphics settings from high to medium, which boosted my FPS to over 100. However, before leaving CS:GO, I was certain my performance exceeded 100+ even with native resolution and top settings. My system specs include a Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB DDR4 RAM, an RX590 GPU, Corsair Platinum 1000 PSU, H100i cooler, and an Asus ProArt X570 monitor (Ultrawide 3440x1440). Another odd observation is that with the new settings, my FPS would frequently jump from 100+ to 300+ whenever I entered a smoke effect. It’s quite frustrating.

I remember my machine handling around 500 fps during CSGO sessions, though that was a long time ago. It wouldn’t surprise me if recent graphics improvements made the game run smoother. I’d check your graphics settings to spot anything unusual. Regarding higher FPS numbers, I think I might have experienced a drop when I first began playing smoke dropped. Increasing the FPS seems logical since rendering becomes simpler with mostly white screens. It’s unlikely you can completely prevent the jump—just disable the FPS counter if it bothers you.

Thank you for your feedback. The visual settings appear unchanged after your last action. I also have concerns about whether Valve would implement new graphical features or a major redesign for the game.

Recent updates? Chipset firmware from AMD? GPU drivers from AMD (version 22.11.2)? Tested Nimez, Omega, and Ammernime drivers?

That sounds interesting! Using the CPU integrated graphics for CSGO might work, but it could limit performance. The RX590 offers better performance for the game.

5900X lacks an integrated GPU at Novackkk but the RX590 performs somewhat poorly at that resolution, meaning you might need to adjust settings.

That feels odd. It’s strange, but R6 seems more visually demanding than CS:GO, or maybe it’s just more intense overall. Since I can run native resolutions and ultra settings smoothly in R6, it probably depends on how you experience it.

Could you confirm if it aligns with your setup (same CPU and GPU)?

It seems you're similar enough—just a bit updated. Fine, I'll keep it that way. Thanks!
