The game that made you upgrade your PC was Wing Commander 3, which convinced your dad to purchase the new CD-ROMs! Another childhood memory involves setting up my first graphics card, the 3DFX Voodoo Banshee, so I could play Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit.

I don’t believe I’ve ever met someone who faced this situation. It seems like you endured it until your computer failed, after which you upgraded to a new one—probably during your childhood when you didn’t have much money.

Doom 3 likely marked the first game I remember damaging my gaming PC, prompting an upgrade. Crysis followed, but it struggled on my 1680x1050 setup with an 8800GTX card—an eye-opening and costly lesson afterward.

I was testing Battlefield 4 in beta on an older PC and achieved around 15 to 20 frames per second on average.

Back then, I played World of Warcraft on my old laptop during the early days of Wrath of the Lich King.

I once had a slow HP laptop. About five years back, I set up my first PC since I needed to run a server for a friend and it kept freezing at around 7 frames per second.

Back in the late '90s, Resident Evil 2 wasn’t running smoothly. My system only had basic graphics, so the fire effects didn’t work well and often failed to load.

I was happy not to face any of that trouble.
