It makes sense. A 1440p display isn't a CRT. 1080p at 4K seems better because genuine 4K (2160p) is four times the resolution, so you can simply treat each pixel as four pixels. Still not perfect but not interpolated either. 1440p manages this with 720p, though not 1080p—it feels more about perception than clear numbers, which are tough to measure.
It works perfectly. You can achieve 1080p-true 4k since it doubles in both dimensions evenly, but 4k requires interpolation which can be tricky. I wasn’t suggesting just stick to 1080p. 720p could be fine, though it’s really low quality. And you’re loading too many cards for that.
You're right, after testing 1440 it becomes quite challenging to revert to 1080.
