I found the cover off and noticed some dried thermal paste. I used tweezers to try removing it, but when my friend accidentally bumped my arm, the paste broke.

These are connection points. Just check that the pins aren’t twisted or overlapping. You could face some odd USB problems afterward. If there are, you’ll know what’s wrong.
