Hello, your current setup includes an i3 8100 with 16GB RAM and an RX 570 graphics card. You're considering moving to an i7 8th Gen or a Ryzen 5 3rd Gen. Since you mainly play games and use Photoshop occasionally, it seems your CPU might be limiting performance. Thoughts?

The appropriate motherboard aids in assessing whether you can upgrade to a Ryzen processor. You'll need a different board to make that change, which might be priced similarly to simply upgrading an Intel CPU.

I understand you need to change the boards, but your current unit is a B365M DS3H.

If not in a hurry you might want to wait for 11th gen Intel desktop CPU series. 10th gen is already pretty good for gaming. Or the AMD upcoming CPUs/APUs. Not too much longer to wait.

I'm thinking about Christmas, but I can wait a bit longer—I'm not in a hurry at all.
