This occurs regularly whenever I leave it idle for a few minutes. I check the web and work on 3D modeling; it maintains a stable 40°C (105°F) but quickly rises to 65-70°C (150-160°F) once I stop using it. The cooling system kicks in, and the CPU reaches those high temperatures as shown by the CPUID HWMonitor. Once input is restored, temperatures return to normal within seconds. Would help to know what actions to take or where to find more details. Appreciate your help!
Did you review active tasks? Likely a program launching on idle time—could be malware. If you use Windows, it might initiate updates or background work.
It's uncommon for malware to be present. Often it's a scan by an antivirus program, which checks the system only when it's not in use.
Could the fans be spinning at a lower RPM when the system sits still for too long? Are you also creating a log of CPU usage and temperatures? Executing apps to track computer metrics in the background isn’t truly idle, though most modern machines with multiple cores manage the workload smoothly. Are you applying ARGB animated effects through iCUE software?
