Your computer suddenly stops functioning after a short period of use.
I assembled my PC around two years ago. About six months ago it starts acting strangely after long periods of use. It only works when playing a simple video file, then it cuts off Wi-Fi and won’t do anything unless I force a restart. I think Windows might be the issue, especially since I also have problems getting updates. Please assist me.
Check the PSU specifications. Possible fixes include adjusting BIOS C-states and Windows power options. Turn off Sleep & Hibernate in Windows, as well as Eco, Green, and Power Save settings in BIOS. Also, use a strong air blower and clean the enclosure regularly—every 6 months to a year at most.
I configured the C state and there are no available BIOS updates. It remains active instead of turning off. After several hours, it won’t complete any tasks, not even opening Calendar. It doesn’t shut down properly either. I suspect this might be related to Windows, given the lack of updates and other issues. Perhaps a clean installation would help, just for your confirmation.
Consider updating if you notice issues and other problems. It’s a quick process that helps confirm whether your system is running on the original version. Try installing apps gradually rather than all at once, as a faulty driver or program might be the cause.
Things to avoid reinstalling during a fresh setup: 1) Driver Updater third-party programs. <insertnamehere>. Occasionally they appear as optional within "freeware" or "If service repair fails, click here to download.". 2) Any additional viral applications that can auto-install. The other aspect to examine is idle temperatures. However, I believe this stems from incorrect drivers being forced onto the hardware or multiple viruses.
