I assembled my initial machine around a year ago and it functions properly. However, I sometimes feel uncertain since it includes some budget components—like the power supply, which is rated for up to 1000 watts. My computer occasionally shuts down unexpectedly, so I’m unsure if that’s due to a less affordable motherboard or the power supply itself. I’ve never heard of this brand before; I assumed the board was an ASRock Phantom Gaming X570. The rest of the hardware appears to be in excellent condition—Ryzen 9 5000X, 64GB of G.Skill Tridebt Z Samsung 980 Pro, EVGA GTX 1060, and a 6GB RAM module. Do you think the issue lies with the motherboard or the power supply, especially when I’m playing games or during Discord calls?
Your setup is quite uneven. You're using a 5900x with a 1060, which isn't ideal. Consider switching to a higher wattage supply like an 850W+ from EVGA, Seasonic, Corsair or Superflower. Also, replace the old 1060 with a modern 3060ti or 3070. A 5900x paired with a 1060 is not worth it.
I'd replace the initial phrase with a more concise version. The reviewer mentions ASRock's history and their mixed board quality, then shifts to comparing Phantom Gaming models. They note the variety of ASRock X570 boards and their mixed performance, concluding that none should lead to unexpected shutdowns.
I think the PSU might not be the problem—it could be too cheap and won’t handle the 300W required by this build. Maybe check the thermal management, reset the BIOS, or reinstall Windows!
It's the identical machine, but it has been shutting down repeatedly since early July of last year, with thermal throttling starting roughly two months ago.
It's the second top-end model here. This board works well with Taichi, but without the 2.5G LAN. Make sure to replace your PSU before getting a 3070 Ti.
