I just completed the update yesterday before sharing this. The BIOS is now the latest non-beta version, but it still won’t power on. I overlooked that turning it on from sleep mode shows the CPU and DRAM debug LEDs on the motherboard, and these same LEDs appear when I attempt to activate any XMP profiles.
It seems there might be an issue with the motherboard. I came across a discussion on MSI that could assist. Their recommendation was to lower the BIOS version to 7D75v17. Windows sleep mode doesn't function with MSI B650 Tomahawk | MSI Global English Forum
Press Windows key + X to open Settings, select Update and Security, then Troubleshoot. Use the additional troubleshooter, look for Power, click it, and run the tool. Restore power plans. Open Command Prompt as administrator and execute the following command: powercfg -restoredefaultschemes. Disable fast startup. Uncheck the box to turn off fast startup.
Avoid reverting to Windows 10 as it nears end-of-life. I’m aware my 5800X on a X570 faces the same sleep issue. It wakes up after just a few hours, but if left on for more than four hours it won’t respond, requiring manual power cuts at the PSU. Simply disabling sleep mode isn’t ideal. For better results, consider @lolomid’s advice. Also, ensure all motherboard components from MSI, HAL, chipset, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, NIC are updated via MSI, HAL, Chipset, etc. You might also explore AMD support directly at the provided link.
Well actually... it seems so. (just a bit) You also appear to miss the point about why Windows 10 is being installed... if it resolves the issue we can be sure it's not related to hardware. From what I've seen, the installation usually takes around 10 to 20 minutes at most. (in my opinion) It really seems like the optimal and simplest way to proceed with Windows 10, using TVM.
Really helpful guidance... I often overlook how quickly things launch... but if that doesn’t work, it’s time to switch to a solid operating system: Linux with Windows 10!
