I assembled my PC in early 2023 (around February) and recently encountered a problem where clicking the power button causes the system to boot but no screen appears, while an orange DRAM LED stays illuminated on the motherboard. This issue has persisted for about three to four weeks, or possibly longer. Before diving into fixes, I managed to get it running by repeatedly turning it on and off, though internet connectivity in my room remains unaffected. My own observations suggest moving the RAM modules around to various slots didn’t help, which hints at a motherboard concern—my friend mentioned this is similar. I also tried reseating the CPU, but it didn’t make a difference, and the fans spun up faster afterward without resolving the display issue. I attempted a BIOS update, but either I didn’t complete it properly or it failed. The GPU was re-seated without success. My system specs include Torrent Compact case, ASUS Tuff Gaming B650, Ryzan 9 7000 series, and several other components. I’m using an MSI Nivida 3060 12G, a GSKILL DDR5 Trident Z5 RGB 2x16G, and a Seasonic power supply (around 700W). A photo was taken when the PC shut down before troubleshooting. Any suggestions would be appreciated—should I consider returning it for repair or replacement?
The CPU is a 7900X at 4.7 GHz with 12 cores. The RAM latency is 32 (first word latency 10ns). This is the PC component selection guide for my build; excluding my motherboard link https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/HfZ7yg, I haven’t overclocked my system. I removed the CMOS battery and it still didn’t work, but thank you for the guidance.
It might be one of two potential causes: a faulty memory controller on the CPU or a pin connection issue, which could stem from a hardware problem or simply an unfortunate defect in the manufacturing process. Other than these possibilities, I’m not certain.
