So this started happening about a month ago and after doing a lot if research I thought the issue was either the Motherboard or PSU so I just replaced and upgraded both. Originally, my PC was working fine for about a month, really only 20 days or so, but when I went to turn it on one time, nothing came on. This is why I replaced the mobo and PSU; it wouldn't post at all. Once I got the replacements, I tested the mobo and PSU by using a screwdriver to short the pwr pins. It turned on perfectly fine but I used the PSU switch to turn it off, which I think mightve shorted it and once everything was actually in my case, it wouldn't turn on at all. Same as before; the fans don't spin, the ethernet lights don't even come on, just nothing. So someone told me I mightve straight broken my mobo by shorting it with a screwdriver while someone else said it was fine. I replaced the PSU again and this time it actually did work, it was on for a good few minutes before I tried to turn it off to move it and the actually case button wouldn't turn it off. So I again used the PSU switch to turn it off. I used that switch again to turn it on and as soon as I clicked the switch, everything came on. I read this might be like and uninterrupted power supply or something like that which is why the power button didn't work but now I'm considering replacing the case as well. But after turning it off a second time, it just completely stopped working. The issue right now is I've replaced the mobo once and the PSU twice and it's still not turning on. I'm not sure how else to test the motherboard and the PSU I'm using is brand new I got it less than 12 hours ago. I'm just not sure whether I actually did break a brand new motherboard or if I just need to replace the CPU since it was coming on ok before. Everything is plugged in, nothing is loose, the outlets I'm using work, but it still just won't turn on. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600X GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 SC PSU: Thermaltake 700w MOBO: MSI B550M VDH RAM: Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 16GB SDD: TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB CASE: Mini Tower Bitfenix Nova Mesh

Hi. I usually do this for testing purposes—it didn’t cause any issues before. What you’re doing with the screwdriver matches how a real button works, connecting the pins to short them. Also, turning it off with the button behind the PSU could damage HDDs due to moving parts, but that’s essentially all. From what you shared, the case might be the problem. It seems something could be creating a short that stops anything from starting. To check, I’d take everything out of the case and set the motherboard on its box to create a test bench, then try powering it on. If it starts without trouble, you’ve likely found the culprit.
