I purchased this setup from a seller on Facebook, but I've thoroughly checked everything before using it. It's been running for about two years now and recently began restarting unexpectedly during intense League of Legends sessions. Sometimes it would briefly shut down, other times it would power off abruptly, then restart after a brief fan spin-up followed by a loop. Occasionally, in the middle of the night, it would toggle itself on and off, requiring me to switch the PSU manually. Trying to play another game or browse the web didn't prevent the issue. The shutdown times varied unpredictably, so I checked temperatures using both built-in tools and third-party apps—results were normal. I cleaned it carefully, but nothing resolved it. When I handed it over to UBreakIFix staff, they confirmed most components passed tests and pointed to either the CPU or motherboard as potential culprits. I replaced both at once and tested again, yet the problem persisted. Later, I swapped out the RAM and added a storage drive, but the issue remained. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Current specs: CPU Ryzen 9 5900X, RAM 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 2667MHZ, one 500GB Western Digital Black SN750 NVME (boot), one Kingston NV2 1TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, motherboard Gigabyte B550 UD AC ATX AM4, CPU cooler Corsair H110i, power supply Corsair CX-M 650W, case NZXT S340, OS Windows 10.
if its not the case powerbutton its the board id try disconnecting the case powerbutton and see if the board still has the same behaviour cause it could be the case powerbutton if it isnt the case powerbutton the board simply needs a deep clean by just taking off all heatsinks + cmos battery, powerbutton + clr cmos for a minute or two, rinse with water making sure everything gets soaked, then you can dunk in a bucket of water for an hour or two or dishwasher with no detergent and leave to dry for a day or two this cleans the board and should fix the issue as ive seen this issue myself a few times and deep cleaning usually gets rid of it unless its a hardware issue with the board but it usually isnt and if it was a hardware issue then youd see other side affects alongside the random turning on/off
The power button might be the problem, according to @Somerandomtechyboi. Trying a brand-new motherboard could eliminate that possibility. I've also noticed a defective power supply causing similar issues. If the front I/O remains connected but still fails, the PSU is likely the culprit.
