It's been several months since I relocated to an AMD platform equipped with a 5800X and an RTX 3080. Since then, I've encountered a recurring issue where my games would stutter at consistent intervals—around every 200 milliseconds—after prolonged usage (4–5 hours without power). The first few hours of gameplay run smoothly, but the stutters become noticeable later on. These interruptions appear in all games and follow a pattern visible in the GPU usage graphs from MSI Afterburner, where the GPU utilization slightly decreases every 200ms. To resolve this, the recommended solutions are to restart the PC or put it to sleep before waking it up again. I've attempted various troubleshooting steps, such as reinstalling Windows and re-seating components, but none have worked. I also checked for background applications, but found none, as my system remains relatively clean. Despite these challenges, I managed to assemble a powerful build in this situation, while others are facing similar difficulties. If anyone has any advice or alternative steps to try, please share so I can explore further options.
I've already attempted to set up Windows 10 without success, and the problem persists. It seems cooling isn't the main concern—my CPU temperatures stay below 75°C and the GPU remains around 65°C maximum.
Samsung 860 EVO 1TB for the boot drive and an 870 EVO Plus 1TB for my games. I’m using Samsung Magician to handle the storage devices.
Are you running the games at 1080p? That can put a lot of strain on your CPU depending on your graphics card's quality. The game performs exceptionally in 1080p, which can cause the CPU or slower RAM to become overwhelmed. If the CPU is working too hard, it might not be able to use the memory efficiently or maintain performance beyond a certain point. Limiting frames or switching to a higher resolution could help. Increasing the resolution so rendering shifts more to the GPU can also alleviate the load. Before adjusting your memory settings, try limiting frames or increasing resolution if you're using 1080p, allowing the GPU to handle more work and easing the CPU's burden.
