Over the last few weeks my computer frequently crashed or displayed BSODs at random times, especially while gaming and using Google Chrome. This problem became apparent after trying to install the latest Windows 10 update, version 20H2. After multiple failed attempts, I restarted the update but it kept failing. My applications would crash randomly—games would stop, and if I restarted the PC instead of rebooting, a BSOD with a memory error code would appear. Using Chrome also caused issues, showing an "Aw Snap" message and triggering a BSOD when I refreshed the page. Other programs like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and more all experienced similar problems.

I attempted several fixes: running the CMD prompt as administrator, using sfc /scannow, and then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. However, each time I encountered the same error: "Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found." I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file and tried locating the necessary source files using DISM, but the same error persisted.

I also used a media creation tool with USB and booted my PC, then followed the commands I listed. The process reset my PC, but when I tried to reinstall Windows, I ran into the same BSOD issues. After formatting and wiping my drive with MCT, I reinstalled Windows again, but the problem continued.

I consulted my friends who suggested hardware issues, so I ran memory diagnostics and checked my hard drive with CrystalDisk. Both tests came back normal. My PC specs are: Intel Core i7 (2600K), GTX 1050 Ti, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD.

I’m really confused about what’s wrong and need guidance. I’m a complete beginner with this situation. Please help me understand what’s happening and how to fix it!

I also experienced BSODs after the new Windows update. I completely wiped all data from my drives using the media creation tool by booting from a USB, then reinstalled Windows.

I don’t have an SSD, just a single 1TB HDD. When I run CrystalDisk and Seatools, nothing issues are detected at all.
