The mention of 2.1GB being reserved refers to system limits for virtual reality performance. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need more RAM, but it highlights that your current setup might be constrained. Check if upgrading your RAM would help VR smoothness. IMG_1824.MOV

When no activity is present, the OS consumes about 2GB of memory for the kernel on Windows OS versions 7 and later.

Because your CPU includes a built-in GPU, it also requires memory. You might adjust the reserved space in Ryzen Master or your BIOS settings. I don’t recall which one. You could also disable the integrated GPU in the BIOS, especially if you’re using a separate GPU.

You're using Windows 10, and the system reports only 6GB of RAM in use when launching 'are you ready for valve index.' This behavior hasn't been consistent before. IMG_1824.MOV

It’s new because it hasn’t occurred before. You haven’t changed your PC settings or performed any upgrades recently.

To the best of my understanding, this has been a consistent issue across these CPUs. It seems to affect all Ryzen models that include built-in graphics, even laptop processors. Are you certain about that? Do your systems have 2GB of reserved memory? My setup doesn’t have that amount allocated. I own a CPU without integrated graphics, but the problem still occurs.

I've said its a recent thing. Before all 8GB has been used. Is it my GPU?

In the Performance section of Task Manager, you'll see one chart for 'GPU' or two depending on whether it includes the Vega graphics card.

If it isn't connected to the iGPU, the issue might be a faulty RAM module or a poor connection on one of the components.

If it was malfunctioning or had a weak link, the system would miss it completely.
