Based on the Linus video released recently, I’ve observed the rig running hot during idle—around 50°C—and reaching up to about 80°C under load. This behavior is typical for high-performance builds but warrants attention. It’s not inherently problematic unless it causes instability or overheating issues. Consider checking your cooler’s efficiency and ensuring proper airflow. If you have the opportunity, replacing the cooler could help maintain stable temperatures.
They work well. I run my setup with an EK 360mm AIO, keeping it around 30°C when idle, 60°C during gameplay, and 70°C on the bench. I'm also using the auto OC function in Ryzen Master for testing.
Here are some suggestions to reduce the temperature:
- Adjust the air cooler settings for better efficiency.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the unit.
- Check for any obstructions blocking airflow.
- Consider using a fan to circulate cooler air.
- If possible, relocate the cooler to a more shaded or cooler area.
This setup isn't really ideal for that situation. It lacks proper airflow optimization since it only has small front openings for fresh air, which are partially obstructed by filters and dampening pads. To improve performance, consider swapping the front fans for models designed for high static pressure to draw in more air. The overall impact might be limited. For better results, install the largest available radiator in the top of your case and configure it as an exhaust. Also, replace the top panel with a performance variant. Keep the front as an intake unless you want to further restrict airflow.
I own a new Dark Rock Pro 4 on a shelf and planned to incorporate it into my build, but I noticed many similar discussions online. The first AIO I tried was an EVGA 360mm, which didn’t perform well in temperature, so I switched to an EK 360mm that’s five degrees cooler. I wouldn’t recommend your case for me. All my setups feature high airflow.
I encountered a significant issue with the case documentation I prepared. I own the Pure Base 500dx, the airflow-oriented model released last year—not the standard quiet variant. Based on what I know, I don’t have dampening pads except at the rear of the case (cable section).
5800x's performance heats up quickly; when your system is only reaching low 80s during peak load, it's ideal. For tuning with Zen3, use the PBO curve optimizer. Make it negative and aim for as much negativity as stable allows—most users reach around -14, and you might hit -30 if lucky. A negative curve optimizer reduces voltage at each frequency, boosting speed and cutting heat. Win-win.
