I've been using a Ryzen Threadripper 1950X with a 1080Ti for three years now. After achieving 50 fps in Cyberpunk on the lowest settings (and planning to use it for future games), I'm considering upgrading to an RTX 3080. My machine has been overclocked to 3.7GHz across all cores for about a month or two, so performance should remain stable for some time. Will this upgrade introduce any bottlenecks? With the 3.7x16 architecture, it still offers solid speeds today. Your 1000W PSU should handle the load comfortably. Thanks!

For current AAA games, performance would hit a 30-35% slowdown, possibly higher, and it might exceed the 4770k mark if conditions are favorable. A recent GN 2080 Ti benchmark using older CPUs from July suggests the 1600/1700/2600 models would perform near TR1 in gaming.

These newer CPUs often match or even drop speeds in certain configurations while using less power. It usually comes down to efficiency improvements rather than just being newer hardware. The design changes help them run better under load without needing higher clock speeds.

At 1440p the performance holds up well. The 4930k lags just under 3 FPS compared to a 9900k. In general, most titles show no more than a 5% variance between older and newer CPUs.
