I understand VR is still somewhat of a novelty. There are many casual gamers and "because we can" enthusiasts (such as with the Wii era when you played those games just to shake the controller). There are some solid, bigger experiences and even quality titles among the wave shooter crowd. It seems to be mainly early adopters, but it hasn't really gained widespread popularity yet.
New Oculus Rift from Oculus will cost around 449€ plus free shipping. An extra sensor is available for 69€, also with free shipping. Besides possibly simple return rules, there are several good reasons to choose a different seller. If these deals and shipping apply to Finland, it’s hard to imagine a worse situation with taxes or delivery options.
This could definitely become a contentious issue. But I’ll share the straightforward truth: there’s no clear winner. Both are impressive in their own way. You’ll find something you like either one. They’re almost identical in performance. I’ve experimented with both and can confirm many people have misinformed themselves about Oculus and the Rift. There are still arguments claiming the Rift lacks roomscale after two years, or that Vive offers superior tracking now. But in reality, the tracking is nearly identical—down to just 0.5 feet in proximity. You can even expand your space with four sensors on the Rift if you adjust your setup and use a USB card to avoid overloading the controller. There’s a lot of misleading information out there, so just disregard it. Try both if possible and choose the one that feels best for you. That’s subjective and varies from person to person. Personally, despite the negative talk, I prefer Oculus because its controllers feel more natural for touch-based games. Still, there are valid reasons to prefer the other. Ultimately, neither is a clear choice—just pick what suits you best. People on either side should be satisfied with the competition pushing both forward. Just go with the one that feels right, and if you can’t test it, opt for the cheaper option and consider a VR cover later if needed.
I already have a multi-monitor setup, a solid 5.1 Logitech sound system, a 7.1 Logitech headset, and top hardware. I’m not looking to improve much unless I upgrade to something like a 12-core CPU or something similar. Your profile shows what I have, so it’s time to consider VR and Skyrim VR seems really solid. I’m also excited to try Superhot since it was great on PC.
